    Skip Jenkins, PhD
    Professor of Historical Theology

Jenkins joined Lee’s faculty in 2004, where he currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Theology. He obtained his PhD in Systematic Theology at Marquette University. Prior to Jenkins’ arrival at Lee, he taught as an adjunct professor for two years at Marquette University. Jenkins is a favorite professor in and out of the classroom, as attested to by his reception of Lee University’s Excellence in Advising Award in 2012 and Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014. He was also the recipient of the Janet Rahamut Award in 2013, which recognizes a faculty member that exhibits the most heart for students evidenced by frequent interaction and positive involvement with them outside of the classroom.

His areas of interest and academic research include the following: Ecumenical Councils, the historical formulations of the doctrines of the Trinity and Christology, and the contemporary construction of Spirit Christology.

Since being at Lee, Jenkins established a mini-conference for pastoral training during Lee Homecoming weekend and founded, with his late wife Larisa Ard, a student-oriented mentoring house whose stated purpose is spiritual, academic, and social accountability.

Jenkins has a forthcoming monograph entitled, A Spirit Christology (Peter Lang), is an active member and presenter at the Society for Pentecostal Studies and the North American Patristic Society, and the featured instructor for the Church of God’s doctrinal video series Living the Faith (COG Division of Education, 2016).

Jenkins has four children: Merritt, Eleanor, Eli, and Ava. They have also founded a student-oriented mentoring house with the stated purpose of spiritual, academic, and social accountability.
