Moore joined Lee’s faculty in 2007, where he currently serves as the Associate Dean of Lee’s School of Religion. Prior to this appointment, Moore served for 7 years as the Chair of Lee’s Department of Theology and the previous 25 years on the faculty of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. Moore has been a guest lecturer at various schools around the U.S. and in other countries, including Korea, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Germany, and China. He received his PhD from Vanderbilt University in Old Testament.

His areas of interest, academic research, and teaching experience include the following: Old Testament theology, Hebrew prophets, Biblical Hermeneutics and Literary Analysis.

Moore was one of the founding editors of the Journal of Pentecostal Theology—the first academic periodical ever to feature constructive theology from a Pentecostal perspective on an international, scholarly level. Complementing his publication of a number of scholarly articles in this area, Moore is a past recipient of a major research grant from the Association of Theological Schools to study the relationship of charisma and canon in the Old Testament. His publications include God Saves: Lessons From the Elisha Stories (Sheffield Academic Press, 1990) and The Spirit of the Old Testament (Deo Publishing, 2011), and Voice, Word, and Spirit: A Pentecostal Old Testament Survey (co-authored with Brian Peterson; Abingdon Press, forthcoming).

Moore is an ordained bishop in the Church of God and an elder at the Westmore Church of God where he leads in the area of inter-generational ministry. He and his wife, Jean, have two daughters and two grandsons.
