    Dr. DeWayne Knight,
    Team Physician
    Dr. DeWayne Knight has been at Lee University working within the athletic department and the athletic training education program since before 2005. Prior to that, while in private emergency medicine practice, he worked part time as a campus physician and team physician. He’s been an active part of the newly accredited athletic training education program since that time, teaching as faculty in the department of health science. With his background in family and emergency medicine and credentials in sports medicine as a certified athletic trainer, he is a central part of the sports medicine team. His educational background includes undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from lee college as well a doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed a residency in family medicine through the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He continues to be certified in sports medicine through the American academy of family practice and National association of athletic trainers. He has presented academic papers at both the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Association. He was also awarded the Charles W. Conn Service Award and in 2015 he was inducted into the Lee University Hall of Fame for his contribution to Athletics in Lee University.
