    Dr. Dewayne Knight currently serves as the team physician and an associate professor of athletic training. He also serves as the medical director of the Athletic Training Education program.

    In 1980, Knight earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis College of Medicine, and opened his own private practice, maintaining for ten years, before moving on to group emergency medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lee.

    Knight served on the Atlanta Committee of the 1996 Olympic Games, and was the venue medical director for the Ocoee whitewater events during that time. He was also a medical review officer for Olympic sports drug testing.

    Missions work has taken Knight all over the world, as he has visited Guatemala, Cuba, Ecuador, and Indonesia as part of his missions efforts. Knight has run 34 full marathons (six Boston Marathons) and multiple triathlons from sprint to Half-Ironman distance.

    Knight and his wife Jane spend most of their weekend activities with their growing family of grandchildren, now numbered at eight. They are expecting twin granddaughters and a grandson this summer and often visit their children between Colombia, South Carolina, and Jackson, Tennessee.
