Sigma Tau Delta 

Membership in Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor society, honors overall academic merit and outstanding achievements in English. Sigma Tau Delta's purpose is to bestow distinction upon undergraduates, graduates and scholars in academia as well as professional writers who have recognized accomplishments. As exceptional English students, members of Sigma Tau Delta are given the opportunity to excel further within their discipline through annual awards and scholarships and through publication in The Rectangle, the journal for the creative works and The Review, which publishes academic essay. The organization also offers its members the opportunity to meet with eminent persons in the profession of English at the annual international convention.

The Lee University Chapter (Alpha Beta Iota) of Sigma Tau Delta offers its members a variety of opportunities:   

  • Students can organize and participate in various literary functions, such as poetry reading and academic presentations.
  • They are able to interact with others in their discipline through regional and national conferences.
  • Through social events, members can develop meaningful relationships with the English faculty of Lee University.
  • Because they are eligible for national scholarships, students can help fund their education.
  • Members are able to hold officer positions which cultivate valuable leadership skills.
  • Membership in Sigma Tau Delta enhances students’ resume by including a distinguished and highly recognized organization among collegiate involvement.
