“I am humbled by the expression of support from the ACBSP membership,” said Thompson, chair of Lee’s Department of Business and professor of business administration. “While this is a time-consuming responsibility, I believe it is important to have a voice to represent schools like Lee as we chart the future of accreditation in business higher-education.”

In his role as chair-elect, Thompson’s responsibilities are to provide guidance and support to the ACBSP’s chair of the board and CEO. He has served as secretary to the ACBSP Board of Directors for the 2014-15 school year, in addition to a regional secretary, president-elect and then president of the region, and has held other leadership roles within the Council such as chairing the Strategic Planning Committee. He will serve on the board as chair for 2016-17 and immediate past chair for 2017-18.

“I consider it a privilege to serve an organization with the high ideals and values as espoused by ACBSP,” said Thompson.

Thompson has been listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and received Lee's prestigious Excellence in Teaching Award in 1987. He has served in leadership positions at the university for over 15 years and is in his 34th year as a faculty member.

Thompson serves on the Bradley/Cleveland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is past chair of the Board of Directors for the Caring Place. He is an active member at Westmore Church of God and serves on various committees and councils for other community agencies.

Thompson and his wife, Cathy, have two daughters, Amie and Lauren.

The ACBSP is a nonprofit association, established in 1988 to offer accreditation and membership services to collegiate business schools and programs whose primary mission is teaching. It is the only organization that offers accreditation to all levels of business education, from associate to doctoral degree programs, and has over 1,300 accredited member campuses.
