Simpson to Perform in Chapel Thursday Share Tweet Email LinkedIn 03/11/18 Top News Chapel Alumni University Wide All Inclusive Lee University alumna Brooke Simpson, who was the third-place finisher on season 13 of NBC’s The Voice, will return to her alma mater for a special chapel performance on Thursday, March 15, at 10:40 a.m. in the Conn Center.Brooke SimpsonSimpson, who auditioned with Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold,” stunned the judges with her voice and “turned all four chairs” during the season premiere last fall. After a heated battle between the judges, Simpson choose Miley Cyrus as her coach. Throughout the show, Simpson continued to dominate making it through Knockouts, Battle Round, and on to the final round of live elimination. During the finale, Simpson sang “What Is Beautiful,” which was an original song written for her by Cyrus. Simpson had previously auditioned during her time at Lee, but did not receive a callback. She decided to re-audition due to the encouragement of her husband, also a Lee alum. During her time at Lee, Simpson was involved in Campus Choir, Delta Zeta Tau, and Pi Kappa Pi. Since her time on The Voice, Simpson has started recording her own music and performing across the Southeast.Simpson lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she and her husband, Ray, currently serve as worship pastors at Potential Church.This event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
