International Studies Major Introduced

The Department of History, Political Science, and Humanities will showcase the new Bachelor of Arts in International Studies on Friday, Nov. 3, at 3-5p.m. in the Humanities Building, Room 104.

International Studies is an interdisciplinary major that allows students to work closely with an advisor to develop a program of study based upon their regional, country, and issue interests. In this major, students can explore topics such as human rights issues in the developing world, non-profit startups in South Africa, religion and democratization in the Arab World, and more.

“International studies is a great fit for students passionate about a specific region, country, or global issue,” said Dr. Ana Shippey, assistant professor of political science.

Friday’s event will inform students on ways that International Studies can help them pursue their goals while in college and, later, in the workforce.

David Coffin, a Lee graduate who currently works as an international trade analyst for the United States International Trade Commission, will share his experience in the field.

The event is free and non-ticketed.
