Lady Flames to Host 11th Annual Volley For A Cure

Volley for a Cure this weekend

The Lee University Lady Flames volleyball team will host the 11th annual Volley For A Cure as a part of the Homecoming 2017 celebration. The Lady Flames will face off against the University of West Georgia on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Paul Dana Walker Arena.

The event’s goal is to help raise awareness for breast cancer and raise money for the Mary Ellen Locher Scholarship Foundation of Chattanooga. The foundation grants scholarships to college students with a parent affected by breast cancer. This year, the fundraising goal is $20,000.

“We have been successful the past two years in reaching our $20,000 goal mark, so we are optimistic about doing it again,” said Andrea Hudson, volleyball head coach. “As always, it is exciting every year to have our team a part of something that is helping high school students in our community to achieve their goal of attending college.”

T-shirts will be for sale before and during the event. Proceeds from the shirts will go to the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation. Shirts can be purchased at the Cleveland Daily Banner, AFC Urgent Care, Southeast Bank, Lee’s Human Resources Office, Bradley Central High School, Cleveland High School, and Walker Valley High School.

Volley for A Cure will host a survivor luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11:30 a.m. in Lee’s DeVos Recreation Center. University of Tennessee Athletic Director Emeritus Joan Cronan will be the guest speaker.
