Schmitt to Present Faculty Recital

Lee University’s Clint Schmitt, saxophone, will present a recital on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Recital Hall, located in Lee’s Humanities Center.

The evening’s performance will feature musical works from a wide range of genres, showcasing the variety of colors the saxophone is capable of producing.

Schmitt, a part-time faculty member of Lee, also holds positions at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Southern Adventist University, where he teaches applied saxophone and woodwind methods classes. He holds degrees in music education from Jacksonville State University and in saxophone performance from The New England Conservatory of Music.

He has performed with organizations such as the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Opera Company of Boston, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Portland (Maine) Orchestra, the Peerless John Philip Sousa Band, WGBH-FM radio in Boston, WFMT-FM radio in Chicago, and the New England Conservatory Orchestra, as a concerto competition winner.

Schmitt actively performs locally in classical, jazz, and commercial settings. His performances include working with The Temptations, The Impressions, the “State Fair” and “West Side Story” musicals, and two concerto appearances with The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera (CSO). He has also twice led the “Big Band Fever!” concerts with the CSO.

Performances outside the Chattanooga area include appearances with the Alabama Symphony in both classical and jazz settings, guest solo performances at the Southeastern Band Conference, the Georgia Music Educator's Conference, and the Anniston Museum Recital Series.

The Thursday evening recital is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
