Lee Dedicates Nursing Building

Nursing Building Dedicated
Lee University School of Nursing

Among hundreds of faculty, staff, students, alumni, board members, and other guests, Lee University dedicated its new School of Nursing building during a special Ceremony of Celebration on Friday morning, Sept. 30.

The Nursing building opened in August with the start of the fall semester and consists of a 140-seat lecture hall, two interactive classrooms, five standard classrooms, a learning resource center, a quiet room, and 17 faculty offices. The facility features six hospital-like simulation labs along with control rooms, two debriefing conference-style rooms, a competency lab, and an assessment lab.

Friday’s ceremony included several musical presentations, a reflection from Dr. Carolyn Dirksen, and an address from Dr. Paul Conn, along with a litany of dedication led by Dennis Livingston, chairman of Lee’s Board of Directors, which went as follows:

• With deep gratitude for the many blessings which we receive from a loving God…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• With thanksgiving for the redemptive work of Jesus Christ in all our individual lives…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• With gratitude for Rich and Helen DeVos, the David Green family, and Summerfield Johnston, for their friendship and their vision for this campus…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• In honor of Pat Carroll and Rick and Barb Gaby, and in appreciation to them for their commitment to the Kingdom of God and their love for Lee University…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• In honor of the faculty of this University, for their passion for teaching, for their investment in the lives of Lee students…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• With deep appreciation for our many friends who have generously and joyfully given their resources to make this project possible…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• With a prayer that in this space, God will call to the field of nursing, young women and men who are superbly trained, radically compassionate, and spiritually motivated to serve and heal others…

• WE DEDICATE THIS BUILDING

• With a profound sense of responsibility for every student who will study in this building, and with a prayer that they will find the truth of God within its classrooms, and that their lives will flourish as they commit themselves to the Lord Jesus Christ…

• WE DEDICATE THE SCHOOL OF NURSING BUILDING

The new building is currently serving over 200 nursing students, the first of whom will graduate in Spring 2017.
