Choral Music Faculty Position
The Lee University School of Music invites applicants for a full-time, tenure track position in choral music to begin in August of 2018. To be considered for a position at the level of Assistant Professor or higher, candidates must have an earned doctorate in choral conducting. Candidates holding an appropriate master’s degree may be considered for a position in our non-tenure, lecturer track.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting Choral Union (a required choral ensemble for vocal majors), providing oversight for and instruction to students enrolled in the graduate choral conducting curriculum, teaching undergraduate conducting, as well as other courses reflecting the successful candidate’s expertise and needs of the School, such as choral music literature and pedagogy, music education, or church music. Additional duties include scholarly activities appropriate to teaching faculty, mentoring and advising students as assigned, university and/or community service, development and delivery of instruction in graduate-level choral literature in an online environment, and working cooperatively with other members of the faculty.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include the following: a completed doctoral degree in choral conducting, a record of successful teaching and choral leadership to undergraduate and graduate music students of varying backgrounds and interests; excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as active involvement in appropriate professional organizations at the state, regional, and national levels. Candidates must have a commitment to Christian high education and the integration of faith with teaching/learning.
