  • Audition Process

    A student seeking to audition as a music major should have background in reading and performing music, as well as a desire and commitment to develop these skills within the framework of Lee University’s music major curriculum.

    Any student interested in auditioning must contact the Recruitment Coordinator for the School of Music to arrange an audition.

    Audition Process

    1. Complete and submit the University application for admission.
    2. Contact the Recruitment Coordinator for the School of Music to schedule an audition (423.614.8675 or
    3. Audition for the School of Music on one of the University’s Frontline Campus Visit Days. The student will need to follow the School of Music guidelines for entrance auditions. During the audition, the student will demonstrate skills that can be developed to enable them to successfully serve as a performer, music educator, music minister, or music entrepreneur. It is necessary for the student to be able to read music.
    4. Following the audition, the student will be given information on Theory and Piano Placement Exams that are a part of the application process. 

    Notification of acceptance status will be given by letter within two weeks after the audition. Based on the audition, a student may:

    • be fully accepted into the Music Major curriculum.
    • be advised to study as a Pre-Music Major and then re-audition after the first semester of study.
